Jason has over 30 years experience from owning several fine dining restaurants, honing his skills on the global stage, to feeding hungry workers in stock yards.
Jason Peppler, a chef with a rich background in culinary arts, is a Brisbane local. His career took off at the renowned Two Small Rooms, where he honed his skills for over six years, working alongside esteemed chefs such as Andrew Mirosch and David Pugh. His journey then took him to London, where he expanded his repertoire at The Connaught Hotel’s kitchen under Michel Boudin, focusing on pastry while also gaining valuable experience with chefs Marco Pierre White at The Criterion and Martin Webb at Quaglinos.
Returning to Brisbane, Jason leveraged his international experience to make a mark locally. He soon became joint head chef at River Canteen, a role he held for around three and a half years, followed by his first solo head chef position at Gerties. His career path then led him to Isis Brasserie, where over nine years, he played a pivotal role in elevating the restaurant to one of the state’s premier dining destinations. His achievements include winning “Young Chef of the Year” in 2004, “Chef of the Year” in 2005, and contributing to the restaurant’s win of “Restaurant of the Year” in 2006 and again in 2008. Peppler’s dedication to the Brisbane culinary scene and to training the next generation of chefs remained unwavering throughout his tenure.
Jason embarked on a new venture, opening Confit Bistro. The bistro was renowned for its simple yet modern European cuisine, a carefully curated wine list, and the relaxed atmosphere it offered its patrons.
His next move was as the Executive chef for The Victoria Park Function Centre and Bistro for nearly a decade expanding their catering and functions repertoire and delighting palates on a daily basis.
His passion for local produce and making gourmet food accessible to everyone drives his creations.
After Covid Jason teamed up with Duncan Brown (farmer and pioneer of Brisbane Valley Quail) to showcase produce from the Somerset region through their Catering and Online Home Delivery Service.
Some Gala Events included Mt Isa Rodeo, Longreach Rodeo, Flyers Ball, Somerset Showcase Dinner (with David Pugh and Javier Codina) and recently Legends of Beef Gala Dinner (with Matthew Wallace) to name a few.
Jason now continues his passion and belief of “ Good Food, Good Wine and Fantastic Company” by supplying home cooked meals and catering to special events both locally and rurally.
He is happy to tailor something to suit your next event or occasion.
